Will Patrick Patterson return to Kentucky?
Forward Patrick Patterson says he is still considering returning to Kentucky for his senior season.
Earlier this week, five Kentucky players–including Patterson–announced that they were entering the NBA Draft. Until those players hire an agent, they are still able to return to school.
Patterson said that he’s “half in, half out”.
But that brings up the question, would he really return?
Patterson is the rare guy that has turned down the NBA twice in his collegiate career already, but this past year he made a huge step in development. Patterson went from being a back down post player to a guy that can drain threes and make defenses have to guard him away from the basket. He’s no Rashard Lewis, but his jump shot opened up John Calipari’s dribble drive offense and would have the same type impact int he NBA.
If he returned again, Kentucky would get a huge, unexpected boost for next year. With five players leaving early, the Wildcats are hot on the recruiting trail to sign more top players to take over the empty roster spots.

Yeah Kentucky does look like it is going to take a big step back next season. If Patterson returns that will definitely help, but I still don’t think he returns. Why would he?
Even if he does I think Kentucky slips substantially. However, I highly doubt Patterson comes back. With him, they’re top fifteen, without him they’re top 25. I just really don’t see how Kentucky will reload. They’re replacing their four best players and a bench player with (right now) two very good players. But Kantner will not be Cousins and Poole will not be Wall, he won’t even be Bledsoe.
