Daniel Evans’ Bracketologyhas been one of the top in the country over the last five seasons. During four of his five seasons he has been able to get at least all but one team correct (one perfect season). Last season he was the “Official NCAA Tournament Blogger” for CBSSports during the NCAA Tournament. Both he, and fellow OSF writer Blake Hofstad, were asked to participate in a special CBS challenge group against the best bracketologists in the country as well as some of the top college basketball writers (like CBS’s Gary Parrish). This bracketology will be updated nightly and will be listed on Daniel Evans’ CBS Sports blog. This season he is once again being featured as the Official NCAA Tournament Blogger for CBSSports.com. The Bracket Matrix lists Evans as the second most successful bracketologist over the last two seasons.

NOTE: This is my evaluation of how I believe the selection committee would seed the teams if today was Selection Sunday, which means that at times my personal thoughts about a team may not be reflected below. My job is to show you how the bracket would look if today was Selection Sunday, not to show you how I’d set up the bracket. Most of conference champions below are the current leaders in each conference. What are your thoughts on the 4-13 match between Tenn and San Jose State in Spokane? Would this be a home court disadvantage for Tenn, is there a better option?
There are several huge problems with these brackets…
First, no team in the central, mountain, or pacific time zones should have a seed above 13. Especially Big XII teams (and don’t buy into that silly “our conference has the #1 RPI talk).
In fact, why don’t we just take out teams like Baylor (RPI-8), Texas A&M (RPI-12), Texas (RPI-27), Okahoma St. (RPI-28), and Mizzouri (RPI-36) and replace them with Big East, ACC, or even A-10 teams.
In fact, lets give automatic bids to ALL Big East teams. To be fair and balanced, we can seed all the Big XII teams not from Kansas between Rutgers and Depaul. Plus, do you remember Jimmy V… that guy was great… make sure NC St. gets a good seed too.
Last, don’t let any stubborn facts like RPI, SOS, or overall record convince you to drop a team like Vandy to the far inferior Big XII teams (not from Kansas). Those Big XII teams are CLEARLY inferior to the likes of Vandy, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Xavier.
Everyone knows that Big XII teams never win in the tourney (like last year when Big XII teams went a pathetic 11-6).
So to summarize, The Big XII sucks and should get absolutely no respect whatsoever. The Big East is the best and should have 14 teams in.
Seriously, why so little respect for the Big XII?

Why do you have Purdue as the 2 seed playing in Providence, you know that the better seeds play closer to home right? They should be the 2 seed in Milwaukee not OSU being the 3 seed in Milwaukee.
Thanks for insulting my intelligence. Purdue is a 2 in Providence simply because I did not change my regional sites in the last update. Most of the top seeds remained in the same spots. In the next update, Purdue will probably be in Milwaukee. Stay tuned.

how much do u see florida dropping after there loss to south carolina? i am keeping them in just ahead of louisville,OK st,ODU? i understand last 2 are up for debate.if unc beats duke do they move in ur bracket?
I have not lost hope, dan. I’m just questioning your use of sos as a deciding factor.
Following the loss to USF, which was before the losses to Nova and Pitt, people still had this team either just in or just out. How could a team with a sub-500 record in the big east with 2 quality wins possibly deserve a tournament bid when they’ve thrown away multiple opportunities for many more? Aside from Cornell, this team lacks quality road wins.
Look, I’m a die-hard. If this team truly was one of the last 8 teams out at that time, that really says something about the quality of the bubble this year.
Nick, I had Seton Hall listed on my Friday update because their resume was one of the better for bubble teams.
Now, I agree. They shouldn’t be listed. I know how it is when your favorite team is frustrating like SHU is, but who knows. They could win the Big East Tournament! Or they could lose in the first round.
i have louisville as a 11 in midwest now as well and after serious deliberation i included dayton over marquette for last spot.
my last 4 in:louisville,illinois,old dominion,dayton
my first 4 out:marquette,miss state,south florida,cincy
Daniel Evans:Florida is IN and has been listed as “IN” for the last two weeks. They’re an 11 seed in the Midwest bracket……
Hey, Dan. Great job as always, but I have one request:
I’m a HUGE Seton Hall fan, and I appreciate you keeping them on here as one of the last 8 out, but please, just for my sanity, take them off the board. They don’t deserve to be up there at the moment, nor do I believe they will even come close to making the tournament come Selection Sunday. Their two best wins are @Cornell (back in November) and v. Pitt, who was (at the time) struggling to beat anybody.
Look, maybe you believe they deserve to be up there, but please, just for the sake of my sanity, take them off. I don’t want to keep my futile hopes up any longer unless I feel they deserve it.
Find a team with a better resume than Georgetown to put on the 2 line.
Georgetown a #2 seed? Is that a joke………

if its any comfort i have baylor and texas a+m higher in my own bracket, baylor a 4 ,texas a+m a 5 with byu and gtown as 6
I apologize for the heavy sarcasm…. but jesus christ, it’s incredibly frustrating when your conference isn’t getting the respect it deserves.
Baylor and Texas A&M are for real. With their resumes and RPI, how are they getting stuck with 6-seeds?
